We love a good street style photo but we love a stylish lady even more! Australian (living in London) blogger Louise Hay does both. Her blog Louhayhay is the go-to for inspirational street style shots but it’s actually her personal style we check in for – she has a seriously enviable wardrobe that we would love to raid! We got to chat with Louise about her fashspiration and love of blogging.

How long have you been blogging?

Louhayhay as it is today is about a year old but before that I had a tumblr account so I’ve been blogging for around three years.

What inspired you to start a blog?

During a late night study session at university a friend introduced me to The Sartorialist and so began my love affair with street style blogs. I had so many images of outfits that inspired me saved on my computer they filled up my hard drive so my boyfriend suggested I start my own blog. I set up a tumblr account and started posting the outfits that inspired me. I then started posting my own outfits on Instagram and my followers started requesting my own outfit posts on my blog… and that’s how the louhayhay.com you see now was born.

What subjects do you love blogging about?

At the moment I mostly blog about my personal outfits. However, I also like to introduce my readers to designers and products that I love. I think it’s important to support the labels I’m passionate about.

What has been your highlight so far?

Blogging has introduced me to some amazing people and I’ve had some incredible experiences. However, the best experience was meeting Diane von Furstenberg and having a little sit down with her when she visited Sydney last year.

What is your personal style?

This is such a hard question! It’s always changing… some days I like to be really girly and other days I’ll throw on a vintage rock tee, leather and red lips. However, my outfits are always comfortable and functional. I also think it’s really important to dress for your body shape so you won’t see me in hot pants and midriff.

What is your favourite item in your wardrobe?

My birkin which was a gift from my parents when I graduated from law school.

What other blogs do you follow?

The Blonde Salad, Soraya Bakhtiar, Stockholm Street Style, Shine By Three and Atlantic Pacific.

Any tips for those aspiring bloggers out there starting their own blog?

Invest in a great camera, take advantage of other social media forums and be consistent!
