10 TIPS TO HIDE YOUR BABY-BUMP IN STYLE...

Are you politely declining offers of a glass of your favourite wine? Coming up with inventive ideas to explain why? If you, like me, have an ever growing bump, signalling the arrival of a gorgeous baby, then a big CONGRATULATIONS are in order!

However there may be reasons why you don’t want to reveal the big news just yet. After 4 months of keeping it a secret and keeping my baby-bump under cover, I finally feel ready to share the news.
Although challenging, rest assured that you can look stylish and keep it a secret at the same time! Here are a few tips and tricks to help you out, until you feel ready to share the good news with the rest of the world...

  1. ACCESSORISE
Who’s going to notice the little baby-bump if you’re rocking bright killer heels or a big statement necklace? When you use bold colours or statement accessories, you automatically draw people’s attention to those areas.

  2. THROW ON A SCARF
Why not treat yourself to a new scarf and use it to camouflage. Use the amazing colours of this season to your advantage. Accessorising with a long scarf will also give you a long and slimming silhouette.

  3. KEEP WORKING OUT
Continuing to exercise is a top tip of mine! Not only will it keep you looking fresh, fit and keep people guessing, but it will keep you healthy and happier throughout the whole pregnancy and you will gain less weight overall. If you do not already exercise regularly, be sure to seek professional advice before doing so!

  4. SKIM THE BODY
Long, loose body-skimming shirts, tunics or tops, together with some great leggings or slim-fitting jeans work wonders. Add a comfortable heel to elongate your silhouette. Of course, make sure the leggings or jeans have a comfortable waist. When you’re feeling sick, the last thing you want is to wear anything restrictive. A slim-fitting comfortable top underneath will help smooth over the bump.

  5. MONOCHROMATIC
This is one of my favourite and easiest ways to achieve a slimmer look, whether you’re with child or not. Dress from head-to-toe in one colour. This gives you a tall, elongated look and a silhouette that doesn't emphasize any specific section of your body.

  6. THE TAILORED JACKET
If you would like to add some colour to the monochromatic look, you can distract searching eyes with a colourful blazer, jacket or cardigan. The tailored jacket will still give the illusion of a waistline. Wear it with a skimming (not tight) camisole or shirt. This AW is all about the coloured coat or jacket, so go find your favourite one!

  7. DONT BAG THE BODY
Resist the temptation to go too big and baggy. Ill-fitting clothes will just make you look bigger and bulkier than you actually are. When you're trying to hide your baby-bump, figure-skimming clothes will hide more secrets and are more flattering for your figure.

  8. HOT LIPS
Shift the spotlight up to your face and away from your stomach with some red lips. Everyone can wear red; it’s just about finding the right shade. Why not get a free makeup session at your local department store to find the right colour for you...

  9. SUPPORT THE PUPPIES
It varies a lot from woman to woman, but the breasts can gain as much as 1.5 pounds each during pregnancy. Be sure to find a good bra with the right support, maybe with extra comfy straps and cups.

  10. WHAT NOT TO DO
No matter how comfortable those flowing, pleated tops and dresses may be, they are not your friend when trying to conceal. They even make women who aren't expecting look pregnant, so skip them while covering up your bundle of joy! And don’t start to deviate too much from your normal style, you can easily enjoy your pregnancy looking stylish as ever.
