For anyone who loves fancy dress and wants to escape to an fantastical island (Isle of Wight) for four days of music, surprises, colour, secret stages and fun then Bestival should be on your calendar.
Let’s start with the music. Previous headliners include Stevie Wonder, Flornece and The Machine and Elton John. Bestival is known for trying to stray away from mainstream and proactively highlighting alternative talent.
But Bestival is not just about the music. As one of the most innovative UK festivals, the surroundings bring the sound of Summer to life. Explore the secret forest where you can take a nap from hammocks hanging from trees sparkled in fairy lights or clean yourself up and take a dip in the open-air hout-tubs in the ‘Bathing Underneath The Sky’ area. Don’t forget the array of cocktail bars, farmers market, comedy acts and many of the arts. The party never stops with 24 hours worth of entertainment from open-air dance floors and wooded amphitheatres to Bollywood tents.
We still haven’t got to the best of Bestival. It is the largest fancy dress party, with over 50,000 festival goers following each year’s theme religiously going head to toe, from toe nails to eyelashes in attempt to out dress everyone else. The creativity behind the costumes are an attraction in itself. Previous themes have been dead rockstars, safari and the ocean. This year is the year of Dessert Island Disco.
We will see you there with our camels and disco balls in tow!
