Last night the girls and I took up The Gilbert Scott’s very kind invitation to join them for the launch of Gilbert’s Gin Garden with Marcus Wareing in association with Hendrick’s Gin. Set in the forecourt of The Gilbert Scott bar, it was like stepping into an enchanted garden with goldfish bowls hung in chandeliers, bath tub sofas and waiters serving botanically-themed gin cocktails and one of the best G&T’s in town!
We enjoyed a Tuesday night tipple, sipping on Lavender and Lemongrass infused G&T’s and Meadow Sweet cocktails, a concoction of Gin mixed with Elderflower, Lavender, Apple & Lemongrass and charged with fizz and got to sample the delights of their bar bites menu, Vicki’s favourite The Gilbert Scott’s signature smoked butter & black pepper popcorn and I highly recommend the Barbecue Chicken Skewers with minted yoghurt.
The Gin Garden officially opens today and visitors can enjoy The Gilbert Scott’s full Brunch Menu which offers a range of tasty dishes from the hearty Dorset crab ‘Benedict’ to buttermilk crumpets with golden syrup butter or Hendrick’s “Tea Time” tipples which have been concocted especially to be enjoyed with The Gilbert Scott’s traditional Afternoon Tea.
But we got some insider information last night on their new Cocktail Floats, one for the grown up’s – Hendrick’s Gin, dark rum, triple sec cola syrup, charged with fizz and floated over salt caramel ice cream – we’re going back for one of these!
Gilbert’s Gin Garden is open weekdays from 11am and weekends from 10am until late. For more information visit www.thegilbertscott.co.uk.
