Everyone has a reason to love Chanel. For me the lightening bolt moment came when my godmother handed me down her silk, oyster-coloured shirt complete with gold CC buttons. Ever since then, Chanel has been my obsession. I follow the collections and make-up releases with the enthusiasm of a teenage One Direction fan -- in my mind, Karl can do no wrong. I even loved the Brad Pitt ad and can't get enough of @ChoupettesDiary. Purr.
The problem of course, is that I am not rich beyond my wildest dreams and I can't afford to buy a 2.55 at the drop of a chapeau. I also have two young children so Start-rite shoes take precedence over quilted flats. But where there's a will, there's a way: I decided that I should start a 'selfish' piggybank, every penny going towards a yearly treat from Chanel.
There are only two rules: Only £2 coins are allowed entry and the savings can't be accessed until the piggybank is completely full. This takes about 12 months and so far I'm on year five.
Here's my small but perfect collection to date, all purchased thanks to my faithful ceramic pet. I have loads of friends who have adopted the idea and they use their kitties to fund summer holidays or their own personal shopping obsessions.
If you think about it, it makes perfect sense. Luxury fashion shouldn't be elitist (another reason to shop at BuyMyWardrobe!). Coco Chanel may have once said, 'The best things in life are free. The second best things are very, very expensive', but that doesn't mean they should be unattainable. I cherish my Chanel goodies and I'm sure Coco would approve. Start your own special piggybank today - it's completely guilt-free!
