The Rise Of Miu Miu

By Lori on Jul 12 2014

If there's one thing we can say about Miu Miu (other than it's cool and we want everything they've ever made) is that it is a brand that has truly deserved it's success.

Miu Miu is the child nickname of Miuccia Prada. Miu Miu was originally positioned as an accessories rich brand that appealed to a much younger demographic than it's big sister Prada. The brand was built on the concepts of 'anti fashion' and always took a back seat when it came to it's powerhouse competitors. It was developed for the twenty somethings that could get away with wearing top to bottom all things kitten, cerise patent leather and shoes made out of screws. Always considered second in line to the fashion thrown (it's basically the rebel Prince Harry of it's kind), Miu Miu has exceeded all expectations by repositioning itself as a renowned stand alone fashion brand. This is evident in it's groundbreaking move from Milan to Paris Fashion Week.

I'd like to think of Miu Miu as the runt of the fashion litter and that it's originality, bravery, skew view of fashion and quirkiness, is what has built it's IT Girl following. It's the ugly duckling that turned into a very stylish swan.
