I have worked in the fashion industry for over 15 years. Much of my career has been spent working in the denim market and I have worked with some of the leading premium denim brands of their time. I am a vintage denim collector picking up pieces from all over the world in my travels. Some of the items are from my personal wardrobe - clearing out space for more collector finds, other pieces come from brands I have worked with during my career.
1. What is your star sign?
Aries but I don’t really go in for all of that… I am very stubborn though and my mum says it because I am a ram.
2. Your favourite London restaurant?
The Blacklock for the best chops ever and Yauatcha. I have never had anything but totally delicious meals in both and lots of fun.
3. Motto to live by?
Treat others as you would wish to be treated yourself. I might not believe in star signs but I do believe in karma.
4. Your favourite film?
The Princess Bride
5. If you weren’t a denim designer, what career would you pursuit?
I wanted to be a lawyer when I was a teenager and then I nearly did maths at university instead of going to art school but I really could not imagine myself now as a mathematician!
6. What’s something most people wouldn’t know about you? (hidden talent, hobby, favourite thing)
I am very good at ping pong as me and Tee recently found out about each other in Shoreditch House and we have been bestie for 10 years so it was a well hidden talent.
7. What item in your wardrobe could you not live without?
Currently it’s my denim dungarees - time to give them back Tee!!
8. Your most favourite holiday destination?
An island off Vietnam called Phu Quoc… whilst backpacking around that area with my now husband we discovered it and didn’t leave for 2 weeks. We can’t wait to go back with the kids.
9. If you could invite any 3 people to a dinner party, dead or alive, who would they be?
My grandfather who was an incredibly kind and intelligent man and lived a very interesting life, Isabella Blow just to see my grandfathers face when I sit them next to each other and I think she would be fun and then my husband. He gets on with everyone and is good company.
10. What would the soundtrack to your life be right now?
My whole family is really into this new band from Middlesbrough (where my husband is from) called Cattle and Cane . They are kind of a Mumford and Sons but with a female vocalist on some of the tracks as well. Its always playing in the car. Then an old friend of mine is in a comedy / educational band called The Vegetable Plot - the kids find it hilarious and there’s a song about avocados they love. Its aim is to get kids loving vegetables and into growing them.
